Name & Symbolism
The name ALUNAYA
The name ALUNAYA is our compass. It combines three concepts from different cultures that shape our understanding of fashion and life.
ALUNA (Kogi)The awareness of interrelationships. Aluna teaches us that everything is interconnected – nothing arises in isolation.
ALAYA (Sanskrit)The "home" or "place of knowledge". For us, it is a space where different cultural perspectives, traditional knowledge, and stories come together.
MUNAY (Quechua)The attitude of unconditional love. It stands for deep respect for all life – and for the people we work with.
For us, these terms become a daily attitude. ALUNAYA is an interplay of people, nature, material, craftsmanship, and conscious decisions. We create a place where traditional knowledge, genuine craftsmanship, and the stories of our partners come together, carried by mutual respect.
Our symbol makes this attitude visible: Inspired by traditional village deities from Rajasthan who watch over the community, it shows two connected beings under a protective roof. It reminds us that true protection arises from connection – in mutual support and the feeling of being carried. ALUNAYA thus stands for clothing that makes connections visible: between people and nature, origin and craftsmanship, ancient knowledge and contemporary design.
